Solicitor-client relationship
We only create a solicitor-client relationship when the letter of engagement is signed and returned, and the scope is agreed. Until then, any discussion is preliminary.
That keeps the work clear. It sets the issue, the fees, the limits, and the next step before either side commits.
You send the issue, the deadline, and any papers that matter. We decide whether the matter fits our practice and ask for anything else we need.
If we can act, we issue a written engagement letter. The scope is set there, along with the terms that govern the matter.
We act within the agreed scope. If the brief changes, we revisit it in writing before moving ahead.
When the matter ends, we close it in line with the retainer and the firm's complaints process. Everything stays on record.
Intellectual property and use
